Welcome to 2021 and it seems it is time to be thinking of netball again. We are very excited to be celebrating 100 years of netballing. The Club was founded in 1921 by the Christchurch Technical College and began playing at Hagley Park. There is a group of members planning on how best to celebrate, so watch this space. In the meantime, the Committee are making plans to make this a memorable year for you all. We have decided that this is a good time to look at new uniforms for all Club teams, from Under 12, right up to the Premiers. Our aim is to have all teams from Under 17 to Premiers in new dresses, and Under 12 to Under 15 in new singlet style tops. There is some uncertainty around delivery times in these Covid affected times, and they may not be immediately available at the start, so we will be using the existing uniforms. For any of you with the current dresses, please make sure they are returned ASAP.

Registrations are now open. Most of you should have received an automatic invite to register again for the 2021 season, but some people may have different contact information and didn't get it. So here is your chance to make sure we know you are coming! Registration must be done online, and is required before you attend trials.

We encourage you to spread the word and get other people enthused. If you are interested in putting your own team together and need a little help, then get in contact with us to see how we can help. There has been a new Under 21 grade introduced this year. This is aimed at giving this age group an opportunity to play together, before moving into the more mature Second and Third grades.

Fundraising has begun, with a raffle where there are two prizes each of a DOUBLE PASS to the upcoming Silver Ferns v Australian Diamonds in Christchurch on March 2 and 3. This is part of the four game Constellation Cup series. We are offering tickets at $5. All you need to do is is tell us (by return email, or on facebook page) how many tickets you want, and for you to deposit the money into our Westpac account 03 1591 0105537 00. Don't forget to put your name as a reference. Rope as many of your family, friends and workmates in as you can. Spread the chances that one of you will win, and you can share. The raffle closes Wednesday 24 February. Only paid up tickets will be considered.

Congratulations to Detroit Stirling and Brenda Bickerstaff, who are back with us to coach the A and B teams. This year, Katrina Williams will step up to assist Brenda with the B team, We are thrilled to welcome Theresa Stevens to coach the Senior Reserve team. Theresa has previously played for Technical and most recently coached the Burnside High School A team. Most of our other coaches are also returning, and looking forward to trials. Further congratulations to Tiana Placid (Open) and Kiarna Sorensen (U23) for their selection in Christchurch Mixed teams, to contest their nationals at Easter. We are offering to enter a mixed team in the U16-U18 grade that plays on Saturdays - let us know if you are interested.

The Committee is in need of a couple more volunteers, as we have had some resignations. We meet about 6 or 7 times a season, and spend our time talking netball (usually!). Or if you just want to lend a helping hand sometimes, let us know too. One of our key projects (apart from new uniforms) is to refresh and consolidate our websites - do you have the skills and passion to help us?
