Umpires

Umpiring Requirements for Players

All teams entered in Under 19 grades and above are required to supply 2 umpires when requested. For teams playing one hour games, the team will be notified at the start of each round as to which 40 min game time will apply. The games may be before or after, but no other notification will be made. (Premier, Senior and Senior Reserve grades)

For Second and U19 grades, you will usually umpire the game following the one you played in. If you are required to umpire before your game, then the team will be notified a couple of days before.

Failure to turn up for umpiring will result in the Club being fined. Currently the default fees are $60.00 per umpire, increased to $120 per umpire after the first fine. The responsibility of the fine will be the players or teams, whichever is appropriate. The payment of the fine must be paid within 4 weeks. Failure to pay the fine will deem the player/team unfinancial for the following season.

Standby umpires are requested to wait in chairs located outside the Umpire's office until ¼ time of the round allocated to ascertain whether they are required during that round. Failure to do so will also result in a $60.00 fine increased to $120 per umpiring card after the first fine.

Umpiring Tests for Players

All players in Premier, Senior, Senior Reserve, U19 and 2nd grades are required to sit and pass the NNZ Local Centre Umpire Theory examination prior to the first competition game, every year. Any players not completing this requirement will be deemed to be an unregistered player. This test is completed online, and you must print your certificate and hand to the coach. Instructions will be sent to you. More information can be found at Game Officials - Christchurch Netball Centre
