Players

Registration

All players need to complete an online registration form to be eligible to play in ChCh Netball Centre Saturday competition.

Trials & Team Selection

Most trials are being held at Nga Puna Wai Sports Hub, expect for Premier teams (Avonside Girls). Look for a large group near a Technical banner sign. Aim to arrive 10 minutes before the advertised starting time, so that we can check your attendance and get warmed up. Please attend all sessions. If you cannot attend a session then please let Selectors know.

You should have indicated your preferred playing position on the registration form and Selectors will make every effort to ensure you do trial at least once in two of these positions. However it is impossible to meet every player's expectations. Selectors will assess your general netball skills and confirm the areas you can play in (goal circle, mid court, defence) without necessarily specifying any one particular position.

Team squads of 9 are preferred with a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 10 as numbers permit. Premier teams usually consist of 12 players. Generally these will announced at the last trial session when the teams can get together and decide on a practice time that suits everyone, including the coach. In some cases, coaches or players may need to change teams if a suitable time cannot be agreed.

Players may be issued with a Technical Netball jacket where supplies are available. This must be returned at the end of the season. We have spent a substantial amount of our fundraising money on this gear however we have had some difficulty in getting it back. Umpiring

All teams entered in Premier, Senior Senior Reserve, Challenhe, Open  and Under 21, Under 19 grades are required to supply 2 umpires when requested. Usually you will need to umpire the game following the one you played in. If you are required to umpire before your game, then the team will be notified a couple of days before.
